I love you so much I sent my own son to die for you. I know it is hard for you to comprehend, but I came down as a man and I died for you. I did not inspire the Bible to be a tell-all book. Stop thinking that every time you have some brilliant discovery like dinosaurs, the world is round, or modern medicine that it disproves the Bible. If I told you all I know it would blow your mind. Stop thinking you made these exciting discoveries without me. If I had told you all this you would have missed the point. Everything I had to tell you was important, so I was very selective.
The Bible is my love letter to you. Maybe you need to read it out of order to figure out how much I care about you. Maybe you start with the book of Matthew. Maybe you start with Romans. Maybe you should sign up for a daily devotional to be e-mailed to you everyday so I can tell you what you need to know to get you through the day.
Stop trying to be so perfect without my help. If I wanted you to look and act perfect or be sinless, then I would have stopped Satan when he deceived Adam and Eve to sin. I was not surprised. I know everything. I am everywhere. I am all-powerful. I am God!
I am in relentless pursuit of you (Luke 15:3-6). I love you so much that I am dying to get into your heart. I know you have sin in your life. Guess what? You all do. I told you this already that, “For all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus (Romans 3:23-24).” Stop hiding behind that sin. It is no excuse to bury your gifts (Luke 19:11-27). I know that you are afraid of surrendering to me because of the sin in your life. I know that you are afraid I might ask you to do something you do not want to do. Moses was afraid of public speaking (Exodus 4:10-17, 6:30), and I helped him get past it to deliver the Ten Commandments. I have used plenty of sinners. The Bible is full of them. Sinners are all I have to use without coming down there myself.
I came down there and suffered as a man in the flesh (John 5:19-30). This was painful to give my son to die for your sins (John 12:27). The good news is he died as a final sacrificial lamb to cover your sins (John 19:30). I did this, because I have no tolerance for sin. I am a righteous and holy God. I know it scares you, because you know in a deep way that you are missing those traits. The good news is that if you let Jesus into your heart and commit your life to me, then it will wash you white as snow in my eyes. Confess your sins so that I can forgive you. I am dying to know you. I do not expect you to be perfect. “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).”
Stop using my precious love letter to judge one another. That is not your job. “Do not judge, or you too will be judged (Matthew 7:1)”. Rebuke is about accountability and is done out of love. My greatest commands are to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength (Mark 12:30)” and to “Love your neighbor as thyself (Mark 12:31).” I can help you with the sin in your life. I can move mountains. I am God. Confess your sins to one another to stay accountable. Pray for one another. Stay with me. Stay in the scripture so I can help you.
If someone around you is suffering be careful before you speak. Pray for me to give you the words (John 16:13-15). If you do not know what to say to that person, then be silent (Job 2:13). I do love that person, and I do not want you to twist any of my words to hurt him. This is Satan’s craftiest trick. I told you about this when he tempted Jesus on the mount (Matthew 4:1-11). He really likes to misquote me.
I love you. I love the people around you, including the ones you find hard to love. Please get to know me. I am dying to get into your heart and unleash all the wonderful plans I have for your life. There will be struggles, but I will help you through them.
Love,
God
Dear Lord,
I realize that I am a sinner. I am sorry for my sins. Thank you for sending your son, Jesus Christ to die on the cross for my sins so that they can be washed away. Please come into my heart and change my life. I surrender. Maybe you have already been in my heart, and I have been running from you and your plans for me. I want to recommit my whole heart to you, Lord. I surrender. I ask these things in Jesus’ name. Amen.
